Zeta Tau Alpha brings back the annual Crown Classic in April 2022.

Mark your calendars – the annual Zeta Tau Alpha Crown Classic at Virginia Tech is back! This fun-filled weekend will take place on April 23rd & 24th with a focus on spreading education and awareness of Breast Cancer research.

What is the Crown Classic?

What is Crown Classic, you may be wondering? Crown Classic differs from October’s Pink Week with an objective to raise awareness and education of the risks of Breast Cancer rather than meet a fundraising goal. Through each event, the women of ZTA hope to increase community involvement in spreading awareness and education for the disease.

Golf Tournament

The first of these fun events is the beloved golf tournament. Tee time is set for April 23rd at 9am on the Virginia Tech course, with another round beginning at 12pm. The format is Captain's Choice, composed of teams of 4 players, with a "shotgun" start for all. The golf match also includes some fun events to spice up players' game, including the longest drive and closest to pin competition! Teams must be formed with registration submitted by April 15th to be included in this event.

Crown Classic T-shirts, which feature a beautiful design of the Virginia Tech golf course to encapsulate the main philanthropic event of the weekend, are being sold as an added bonus. Not to mention, they are super cute! Shirts are priced at $21 with the order form closing on April 23rd – those who order will receive their shirts just in time for summer!

Percentage Night

Zeta Tau Alpha will also host a percentage night at the Sweet Frog on University City Blvd. from 4-8pm on April 24th. Proceeds from this event will go to Breast Cancer research and education programs. Remember to mention ZTA at checkout!

House Decorating Contest

Don't forget to follow along on social media as well – participating organizations will compete in a “pink out” house decorating competition through Instagram! Winners will receive a large sum of points towards their organization's rankings depending on the uniqueness and creativity of their designs!

Continuing with the theme of the week, social media posts will also aim to further education and awareness instead of raising money. Though donations are essential to aid research, it is also vital for people to assess their risk of Breast Cancer and understand how to make a difference through social media and/or their everyday lives!

If you would like to sign up for Crown Classic participation, or have any questions, you may reach out to ZTA's Philanthropy Chair, Ellie Reynolds, at 860-581-0761 or ellier20@vt.edu.

We hope to see you there, and don't forget to Think Pink!
